How to Become a Resourced Woman

What Does "Resourced" Mean?

Being resourced can mean different things to different individuals. To me, it signifies attaining a state and sensation of having the capacity to hold life.

Becoming a resourced woman is a deeply transformative journey, one that invites us to explore the essence of what it truly means to be grounded, nourished, and aligned with our inner selves.

At its core, being "resourced" is about having the capacity for life, an abundance of energy, and the ability to tap into the wellspring of our own being. It's a state where we feel rooted within ourselves, able to connect with our inner world, and attuned to the ever-shifting landscape of our emotions and experiences.

Understanding Regulation

Regulation, in the context of our nervous system, refers to a state where we are fully present and engaged with the world around us. It's a place where we find ourselves grounded, spacious, curious, and creative. It's where ease and grace flow through our bodies and energy fields.

In a regulated state, we encounter life's daily experiences from a space of inner calm and presence.

On the flip side, there's dysregulation, a state where our nervous system reacts in various ways—fight, flight, freeze, or fawn—in response to life's challenges.

This state is often triggered by unresolved emotional imprints or past experiences held within our bodies. Dysregulation can also occur when we're trapped in future-focused anxiety, living in a constant "what if" state.

In this state, there is a lack of grounding and a sense of contraction within our beings.

Staying regulated

Many women wonder how they can become and stay regulated in the face of life's unpredictable demands. The truth is, we can't be in a perpetual state of regulation.

It's not the natural design of life.

Instead, it's about having the awareness and tools to move gracefully from a regulated to a dysregulated state and back again.

Being a resourced woman means recognising when you've shifted into a dysregulated state and having the tools and awareness to address it. This could involve acknowledging reactions like fighting, fleeing, freezing, or fawning and understanding that these are nervous system responses to perceived threats or triggers.

By acknowledging our state, we can begin the journey back to regulation.

Embracing Curiosity

In a state of regulation, we can access curiosity and creativity. We become open to exploring our emotions and reactions, seeking to understand the root causes of our responses.

We ask ourselves questions like:

  • "What has triggered me?"

  • "How can I respond differently to similar situations in the future?"

  • "What practices can help me ground and reconnect with myself during moments of dysregulation?"

Curiosity is a powerful tool in a regulated state, allowing us to dive deep into self-discovery and self-healing. We have the mental space to explore, learn, and adapt, rather than merely reacting out of survival instinct.

Ultimately, being a resourced woman allows you to stay connected to yourself, your body, and your needs in the face of life's ups and downs. You are equipped to navigate experiences with curiosity, groundedness, and presence, remaining fully engaged with your emotional landscape and the world around you.

In this state of connection, you can heal old wounds, address traumas, and maintain a profound sense of self-awareness.

You're no longer at the mercy of dysregulation, as you have the tools and resources to return to a regulated state.

Becoming a resourced woman is a complex, beautiful journey. It's a dance between chaos and curiosity, a path that allows you to navigate life's challenges with resilience and grace. It's an acknowledgment that life will always bring moments of dysregulation, and it's okay.

It's part of the human experience.

Resourcefulness is not about living a life of constant regulation, but about navigating the ebb and flow of experiences with a grounded and connected spirit. It's a journey of self-discovery and self-care, a path that empowers you to meet life's challenges with an open heart and a fully resourced being.
